The Bilberry is native to northern Europe and known by many different names (European blueberry, blaeberry, whortleberry, whinberry, wimberry, myrtle blueberry or fraughan. During World War II many RAF pilots consumed Bilberries before night missions owing to their purported night vision enhancement.
