Raffinose stachyose is an oligosaccharide (tetrasaccharide) consisting of two D-galactose units, one D-glucose and one D-fructose.Raffinose stachyose is less sweet than sucrose, with about 28% on a weight basis.Stachyose is mainly used as a bulk sweetener or for its functional oligosaccharide property.Stachyose is not completely digestible by humans.stachyose from is extracted from Eupatorium Stachyose.This plant is a popular vegetable in the North of China.
